As part of its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) project, SA Express has adopted Metlhareng Combined Farm School in the East Rand. Mehlareng Combined Farm School is a government school that caters for children in the farming areas of Petit, Benoni and Bapsfontein. The school lacks basic resources such as a library, playground and proper desks and chairs. As part of the school adoption, SA Express has pledged to assist the school with providing some of the basic necessities for the year.
The airline is collaborating with the Department of Environmental Affairs and Arts and Culture to provide the school with 150 school desks and stationery, which were handed over to the Grade 1 to 4 learners.
The handover ceremony took place on 20 February 2015 at a function held at Mehlareng Combined Farmed School in Kempton Park.
SA Express CEO Inati Ntshanga, Deputy Ministers of Arts & Culture, the Honourable Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi where amongst the honoured guests who attended the handover ceremony. The room was filled with enthusiastic young learners and their parents.
The learners where addressed by the Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture the Honourable Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi and Mr. Inati Ntshanga, SA Express CEO, who encouraged the students to learn and study hard. He believes in quality education for Mehlareng Combined Farm School.
The handing over of the school desks and stationery took place shortly after the hoisting of the South African flag done by the learners of the school along with #SAExpress CEO Inati Ntshanga and Department of Arts and Culture the Honourable Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi while the school choir sang the national anthem.
